Lemon pepper vegetable stir fry

11 Nov

As it gets colder, Man Woman like to fortify themselves with lemon,  ginger and garlic against all the germs the outside world has to offer. Outside world, ew. Neither of us have been struck down by a terrible flu yet, and while science will not permit me to attribute our good health to this lemon pepper stir fry, I’ll have to contend myself with billing it as a quick and tasty mid-week dinner. So quick, we didn’t even photograph it (photographing our dinners does get tiresome, would you believe).

This is another one of the sauces woman drinks.

  • 2 TBSP soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 1/2 – 3/4 lemon juiced
  • 1.5 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2cm piece of lemongrass, finely sliced and macerated
  • 1/2 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 scant tsp cracked or coarse black pepper

  • 1/2 medium head of broccoli
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 red capsicum

Mix sauce ingredients in small bowl or jar or glass. You know, a container.

In a wok, stir fry the veg for a few minutes. We always prefer it a bit raw and crunchy. Just before removing veg from the wok, add sauce.

Serve on top of brown rice.

Estimated cost: £1.90

Musical accompaniment: National Public Radio’s ‘All Songs Considered’
